Skinning Coyoties

I figure since I've been doing a lot of coyote hunting lately I should find out how to skin them properly, just in case I get one. Anybody have any tips?

I talked to the local fur buyer yesterday and he said to just bring the whole thing to him and he would skin it.
Works for me!

RE: Skinning Coyoties

There is really only two ways that you skin a coyote. If you`re planing to sell the hide
to a fur buyer then you would case skin the
animal. To do this hang the animal from a
gambrel by the large tendon in the hind legs
and make an incision below the hock on the
back side of the leg. Using your knife cut a
line down the leg around the vent and up the
other leg to the same spot by the hock. Then
cut a circle around the leg at that spot and
peel the hide off down to the tail. Next go
to the front legs and cut a circle around each leg just above the dew claw. Don`t slit
these legs. Now just start pulling the hide
off the carcess like like pulling off a tight
fitting glove. Don`t forget to strip the bone
out of the tail. There is a tool called a tail stripper that makes this job a snap.
The other method of skinning is called :open
skinning; and you would skin it like you would skin a deer. Slitting it down the belly
ect. If your going to take it to your taxidermust I would suggest you take the whole animal in and let him do the skinning.
