Coyote Gun....?
Went hunting the last 2 nights and realized i need a coyote gun...
Most the inputs i have received would be to use a 223.
Any comments/thoughts would be appreciated about ammo used, types of scopes, etc etc.
Thanks

A .223 is hard to beat. Ammo is cheap and normally readily available, the cartridge has decent range and shoots relatively flat, and there are a lot of options in firearms.
I have a .223 Browning A-bolt with a 3-9x40 Buckmaster I take with me nearly all the time. It is my favorite rifle, and it has taken numerous coyotes and other critters calling, and several hundred wild hogs.

in southern california we have fairly small deer, so my savage .243 11fcns is a perfect gun for both coyote and deer. i can get a box of cxp2's 100gr for $15 each at walmart and they shoot remarkably accurate with my savage as well as 100gr corelokts. the cost of good ammo is very cheap for this gun and the gun itself is a very affordable price brand new. got mine for about $350. my gun has only missed 2 out of many coyotes and that was because both were standing shots with the dogs on the run full speed around 100+ yds out. even then i got real close to hittin them. if you're worried about pelt concern, you might want a different load then the ones i'm shooting or maybe go with the .223 after all. but if you're not entirely concerned with some pelt damage, i'd say this is a great gun for 'yotes.

Man, I'm hoping these guys are right..... I did my homework...(I think), and bought a .223 Remington Barrel for my T/C Pro-Hunter. I'm gonna stick a Nikon 4.5-14x40 scope on it and see where I'm at from there. There ought to be some dogs-n-hogs in serious trouble....

If price is no option, shoot a .243 with 50gr bullets. This does but a pretty big hole in them, but it shoots super flat! Pink Mist! Personally, I would go with a 22-250, that will put the hurt'n on, and won't break the bank. If you are road hunting, .223, because they are cheap. Cannot go wrong with an AR-15!
