Savage model 10 predator hunter???
I am getting ready to order this rifle with the Nikon coyote special scope. Does anyone have any suggestions or reviews on this setup?

i have shot the rifle but with a different scope. it was a 22-250 and was very accurate. hard to go wrong with a savage. the only thing was the camo was rubbing off of the barrel in spots.

I am going back and fourth with the caliber i should get.. I was sure i wanted a .22-250 but kinda started leaning back to .223. I like the trigger features on this rifle, like the oversized bolt knob, like the safety. But wouldn't like the camo to come off.

personally i would pick the 22-250. they will both do the job but 250 has an edge on the .223 in my opinion.

I would deffinetly go for the 250, packs a little more wallop on the yotes. Ive never shot the rifle but have read lots of reviews and handled a few. Like mentioned before the camo job isnt the best and the stock is a little on the flimsy side but it is a solid shooting gun.

Great Rifle
This is a great rifle, most are extremely accurate right off the shelf. I have not used that particular scope but have shot a lot of the Nikon 3-9 and all were certainly adequate.
Calibers, I have shot the 22-250 mostly but have started shooting the .223 more lately. Out to about 300 yards you should not see any huge difference in killing power. The biggest advantage I can see with the .223 is the ammo is often a lot cheaper, especially in the bulk 50 packs. Also, if you reload the powder cost is less because you use less. Have fun picking out and shooting that Savage. |
I was looking at one hard myself............just didn't fit me !?
Ended up with non camo - synthetic, stainless instead in .204 http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/16FCSS With; 4X-16X 44MM http://www.burrisoptics.com/sigselect.html |
I have a predator in 22-250 and I love it Yes the Camo is peeling off in a few places but I am also pretty ruff on it. It rides in the truck with me while running dogs and is also my calling gun at times. I can constantly shoot D size batteries on their side at 300 yds and I shoot 16 oz water bottles at 500 yards with this gun and my reloads a very good shooter for the price IMO
