Coyote tips for a newbie.

I recently purchased a Foxpro FX3. After several trips I'v had no luck. I am usuing mostly cottontail in distress along with some coyote calls. Can anyone give me some tips on how to best use the calls. I'v been letting the cottontail distress run for 15 min. at a time. I know their are coyotes on the property I hunt b/c I have trail cam pics, although I can count the number of instances were I'v gotten pics on 1 hand over a years time. And all pics were at night. Would night hunting be my best option, if so any tips on how to go about that would be helpfull. Thanks. Jason

That white tipped tail coyote is sweet!

Set up is crucial! Be sure that you allow them to feel secure as they approach. This means setting up so that they can use ditches, hedgerows, points of woods, etc as they investigate the sound. It may help to be down/cross wind of your caller (be sure they don't wind you though) and intercept them at these locations.

how big is the property you hunt??the reason i ask is b/c a coyotes territory can range for miles..they may not always be there when you are..i believe this is the problem i'm having with the farm i am hunting..sometimes you gotta be at the right place at the right time..keep after em though..good luck

BHW.. Im with you... thats a big white tip..

Very cool picks bro... That one coyote seems to have little if any guard hairs... Real slick for this time of year...

Hey looks like your using a bait station... There is a great article on baiting them this month in PX.. I think by some guy... Brian... Somthing or other... I cant think of his name.. off the top of my head... I just remember real good read... That article itself should help you out a bunch....

MIke....

Calling though...

That one picture is at 6:18am... that coyote isnt to far by sun up... calling would work great also... Just have to becareful... Approach... wind.. etc...
Start soft on the calling... little bursts... peak some interest... and if you have already used the rabbit distress... use... some fox distress... or something other than rabbit...

Yeah, love those pics as well. Goes to show those cameras are for more than just large game animals!
