rabies/coyote question
Shot a yote yesterday bout an hour before dark, looked healthy to me.
Got to skinning it out and had the revelation about coyotes and rabies, of course I washed my hands with bleach right away , but I'm pretty sure the blood got on a few small nicks I have on my hands. I don't know of any local cases. Should I be worried , are there any tell tell signs the dog would have if it was infected? Stupid coyote , I really hate them varmints.:fighting0007: |
I wouldn't worry. Rabies is usually transferred through a bite and is in the saliva of the infected animal. I don't know if the blood is also a carrier or not. I guess I haven't heard of anyone getting infected by contact with blood while skinning.

Have it checked out......................better safe then sorry !!!

Wouldn't worry about it. Blood is not infective, would have to come in contact with nervous tissue, brain, spinal cord or large nerve. Not a danger while skinning.
Saliva is infective but unless you had your hands in it mouth right after you killed it shouldn't be a bid deal. Coyotes are not common carriers of rabies. Skunks, coons, and bats would be the most common. |
its not ****et aids lol
