Contact the Illinois Trappers Association. They should have a web site. They will help you find someone in your area.

Good luck.

Even IF you do find a buyer, the fur market is horrible right now, do to the economy mostly. Some buyers aren't even buying coyotes or raccoons this year becuase the fur market is so un-known at this time. I thought the last two years here in CO. were bad when I was getting $10./ea. for coyotes, but can't even sell them this winter.

Yea, i'm not toooo worried about getting much...I'm just trapping in my back yard for the experience of it.

the Illinois Trapping association doesn't look to be very useful...the web page is terrible and 2/3s of the email addresses listed for the officers bounce back to the sender.

I may try to process some of the furs myself

any other ideas on what to do with trappings in a market where none are buying?

freeze the raw pelts in vacuum packing bags and hope the market rebounds next year.

try NAFA or whatever that association is. They have buying stations every year in different parts. Look up their website the info should be on there.

The folks that are still trapping in southeastern Illinois that i know are generally stretching and drying their furs and shipping them off to auctions. A few folks were taking their furs over to the Little Red Barn by Vincennes, Indiana, but i dont know if they are even buying their or if it would be worth the gas money to go there.

I have heard good things about Groenwald. They may be your best bet.
