I killed a coyote at 35 yards with a 22 LR,1 shot put him down.22 mag will do fine taking headshots,i would limit my shots to about 50 yards.

13 point makes a good point. Now, I loves the 22 mag but out past 90-100 yards I'd go for a little bit bigger rifle. Keep it to 50 and you should do just fine.

The .22 mag has sufficient power to kill any of those critters out to 100 yards. If you have the shot, feel confident and the conditions are right, go for the boiler room, ie, heart/lungs or straight on chest shot. I wouldn't trying to get a head shot at that distance. One may hit 2" black dots all day at the range at that distance, but there are too many variables that may lead one off their accuracy under hunting conditions. It's also more respectful and ethical, in my opinion, to not take those "iffy" shots under hunting situations. If you have a head shot at a distance you're comfortable with, then by all means, do what fits you.

For the 75-100 yard range on 'yotes, be sure to stay off the shoulder. Better yet, try to get the shots closer!

That's a hell of a shot with a .22 magnum at 212 yards.

As a rule of thumb, I would keep my shots to 100-150 yards with a .22 magnum.

I like to aim right behind the ear, if they are close enough.
