Gun for Coyote hunting.

What would be a good gun for this animal. I was thinking a 270 or 12 gauge with a buck shot?

Shotgun will be good in thick stuff, shots under 50 yards..270 will kill em as far as u can hit em!

Both would be fine choices. I deer hunt with a 270 so a few months before deer season I get some real pratice in.

The wood around here is thick so I'm leaning towards the 12 gauge.

If I was you,I would pattern my gun with 00 buckshot, just to see which one patterns best with my shotgun. It may do better with a different shot size.Try 000,00or #1 Buckshot.

Good luck to you!

:fighting0007: 22-250; 12 ga. #4 buckshot.

jester31780 10-07-2009 06:24 AM

shotgun

the shotgun will work real good in the woods I predator hunt a lot so if you get a good call hand or electronic you could get away with the shotgun every time I got a 20ga and thats all its for is coyotes

bowfly 10-07-2009 07:25 AM

do you plan on saving the pelt??? i like my 25-06 but break out my dad's 22-250 from time to time, both for AT&T shots :D

nick_bleuer76 10-07-2009 09:35 AM

I rock the woods with a DPMS 5.56NATO Sportical (.223) and my Mossberg 500 with a turkey choke and #4

BowHuntingFool 10-07-2009 06:30 PM

My Savage .204 sure does a number on them! Either guns you listed will get the job done as well!

backwoodsboy13 10-08-2009 07:35 AM

If your hunting for fur I would go with the 270 but if your doing it just for the sport either is ok.

KsOkHunter24 10-18-2009 06:31 AM

I would go with .270 , unless your gonna call them in close..

Sheridan 10-18-2009 09:34 AM

A lot of guys bring both.

Do you already own both guns ?

13points said it best.........

IndyHunter83 10-18-2009 12:35 PM

if its thick then go for the 12 ga. I've used both. either one will them just as dead as the other.
