squirrel hunting

RE: squirrel hunting
I use a Charles Daly 20 gage pump, modified choke, #7.5 low brass. It can pop 'em from up to 40 yards 100' up a hickory, kills 'em stone dead, and the pellets don't go much past the skin.

I like my Ruger 10-22 (22 LR) with a cheap 4x32 scope. The only ammo i use is CCI Mini-mag hollow point, killed everything from squirrels to coyote with that setup.A 22 lr is about the best gun to start out with,a 22 mag is for larger animals, like coon, fox, bobcat, ect. You can hunt squirrels with a 22 mag,but you better make headshots,'cause it will do some damage!(22 lr will to,but not as bad).Ammo is cheaper with the LR.Anyway a bolt action, semi auto, lever action,or a single shot 22 LR is good for squirrel hunting. It's really up to you what you want, but i would reccomend a 22LR.

The first part of the season when the leaves are still on the trees I use my grandpa's old single shot .410. Later on I switch to my 10/22. This year I am going to try using my new Ruger Single Six revolver. It's going to be a bit more difficult, but I think it will be more exciting too.
