Would a coyote bark when he catches your scent?
 

Or do they just vanish quietly?

The reason I ask was I went to try and call in a coyote. After a couple of the dying rabbit sequences, downwind and out of sight, I figure 100 yards, I hear what I think was a dog bark. Heard it just once. I have seen a couple farm dogs in the area previously while bowhunting, but I figured a dog would have come in even having smelled human scent.

It is quite common for a yote to bark at a hunter when he knows you are not an animal in distress. He has heard your truck door slam, heard you making noise setting up, saw you walking in, ect. An educated yote also learns the difference in a call and the real thing and will sound an alarm as soon as he knows what you are.

i do not no if a yote would bark if he smelled u but a dog would have came right on in that is for sure!

Coyotes do warning barks sometimes when they smell a rat, or see movement, They don't always do it, but if you hunt them enough it will happen to ya. Usually they bark more than once, but not always, if you can see the yote, it's a perfect chance for a pot-shot, they won't come any closer when they warning bark.

Every rule does have it's exeption.

Sadly I have been busted many times by the jokers. Smell sight or sound will give a taunting bark from time to time. I started using a scent suit a few years back and did away with getting winded. Sometimes I'm not paying attention and they run away barking when they figure out the speaker is making all the racket. They get shot in the butt for their trouble.
It never fails when I'm sick and coughing one is looking. I generally don't get them though. By the time I get the rifle up they are gone.

will they bark it they smell you.... Yep, some say itswarning bark, my ego thinks their laughing....

If you can see them you better bustem fast.... Usually when this happens they head for a safe spot to sound the alarm, and let all the other coyotes around know how big of a fool I was....

It will happen eventually happen to everyone...
