ORIGINAL: 700xcr Yes you can hunt coyotes with the 7mm mag. But there is more suitable cartridges out there with less recoil. I live in the West where the wind and long shots. Another one to look at is the 243win. Cost of ammo would be much cheaper and recoil would be less then the 7mm mag. Follow up shots and double coyotes would be much easier to take. |

Dont think that it is so much an issue of whether it is too much gun for coyotes as opposed to being a little too much gun for Ohio unless you are way down in the hills.

well dont use ballistic tips if u plan on saving fur..i shot a deer with 7mm mag ballistic tip and put a hole big enuf to put my size 12 boot in...

Why in the world would you buy a 7mm mag when you already own a 30-06? Especially if you're in Ohio....
