I have to use a shotgun at this local public land.....what shot size are you guys using?

Cool....was digging around the gun closet and found some #4 buck and a box of 3" T shot....will those work out?

I use 3.5 t shot and 3.5 bbb stell with mod choke works good for me .

bb's , T's, and buck. i prefer buck, with an extended range choke you can pillowcase a yote at 60yds

Don't skip out on patterning your shotgun on paper. This will help YOU decide what the effective range is of the choke/shot combo of YOUR shotgun. Don't just assume that 4buck will kill a coyote cleanly at 60 yards. If the shot doesn't pattern well, OR if your shotgun patterns slightly high/low, or slightly left/right, killing a coyote past 40 yards might not be a reasonable task.
Also, the larger shot shells, such as 00 buck, or T, for instance, don't ahve very many pellets. If the pattern isn't tight, then30 or 40 yards may be the effective range of your shotgun.
I knowseveral guys thatuse copper plated BB 3", because these throw a much tighter and fuller pattern than the 4buck out of thier shotguns.

I use a Federal 3" Copper Plated BB 1 7/8 ounce with a Hevi-Shot Dead Coyote choke tube out of my 870 Express Turkey. It throws alot better pattern than some of the buckshots, and other large shots. I did buy some OO Buck Hevi Shot to play with, but haven't had the opportunity to throw a pattern yet.

With my 870 mag. I have the best pattern with dead coyote in 3.5 "T". The problem with the 00buck is not enough pellets to give me a good pattern, but that's with a under taker turkey choke.

man if you can get them close with a shotgun your doing some thing!
i can hardly get them to 100 yards its so open here! and something like a 22-250 or 223 shoots to far because of house so i use 22 hornet
hope your not planing on saving the fur:)
