is a 22. mag to small for coyotes?
i have a 22. mag and i shoot 40 grain hollow points out of it for small game and it buts a hell of a hole in them. is it to small for coyotes and foxs? thanks for the help!

it would work on foxes well im sure but id go a little bigger for coyotes

It'll work, I've done it. Its not exactly ideal, but as long as you can place the bullet where it needs to be (under 100 yards preferably) it'll more than likely be a dead coyote or fox.

I've done it before also and it seems that the coyote does a lot of dancing once the first bullet hits it.

it might work on foxes but i think you should get a bigger gun like a 223 or 243

I use 22 mag on foxes and it works great. But I wouldn't know about coyotes because we don't have any.

I've shot a BUNCH of yotes with the .22 mag and it will do the job easily assuming good shot placement & within effective range. When shooting edible small game such as rabbit & squirrel with .22 mag, go with fmj or solid bullets. I've seen too many yotes run off after being shot with rimfire .17s.
