22 Lr with bird shot for dove is a BAD [:@]Idea.
It's only good for about 10 to 15 foot.
And most places it against the law to shoot dove with a rifle.
Use a Shotgun.

Winchester Super-X, CCI Stingers, Lapua Subsonic Hallow Points.

All work good with my 22. Super-X is more of a typical 22 bullet. Stingers and SHP seem to kill things with more of a hit.

I agree with jrbsr... .22 shotshells of any kind are adequate only for small targets at very close range...They kill barn sparrows and rats , but only if they are within 15 or 20 feet... I have used them quite a bit over the years for rats inside buildings and I've noticed that they seem to pattern much better out of a handgun than a rifle..I suspect that's because the in the shorter barrel the shot pattern is less disrupted by the rifling..

CCI shot shells for the .22 are the best there is, and actually they are very good on snakes/rodents out to about 30 feet, but more realistically about 15 feet. Use some common sense, there is just so many shot that can be fitted in a 22 size capsule. They are in a capsule because the rifling in a barrel absolutely destroys an effective pattern if not.
If you would like to see a pattern just put up a piece of newspaper, step back (some distance) and fire away.
This shell was basically intended for snakes/rats at close range, thats it!

As the guy above said, if you want to shoot doves ( with reliability), use a shotgun.

Good luck.

As most everyone has mentioned, use them for thier intended use, and they won't seem to suck so bad. They are loaded with #11 shot and simply aren't effective past 20 or 30 feet on small rodents!

Get a shotgun, at least a 4-10 to hunt doves with. The national average is about 1 dead dove in 7 shotshells. Now if everyoneusing shotguns can only kill 1 in 7, I think you'd be doing goodat killing 1 in 50 with a 22lr with shotshells.

like everybody said they were never intended for wing shooting just for pest at close range, they used to call them ratshot and thats what they are good for you can shot one in the corn crib without shooting holes in it.
