I've experimented with a number of things, but have found marshmallows the best for catching coons and minimizing catching things I don't want to catch like 'possums, skunks and cats.

A lot of coon hunters that I know use dry dog food in their feeders.

If your trapping away from any places with cats you could use sardinies Ive got coon on sardinies but you can also catch opussums and skunks. Coon also have a sweet tooth so any kind of sweets would work also

Over the years i tended to use canned Jack Mackeral. But after starting to use it at the end of last season, I will probably never use anything besides dried dog food. Cheapest and easiest to obtain bait there is. Coons love to try to go into peoples yards and steal it from sheds or the animals food bowls, socoons are used to human smell being associated with it.
