What now

Hey guys I've got a question for ya. I've had a beagle (Trigger) now for 6 years. When we go hunting I don"t think I'm setting up right. When Trigger is sniffing around and he finds a track that smells fresh he starts baying away and peruses it as he should. My question is what do I do now? Do I stay put ? Keep in mind we did not just jump the rabbit we only came across a track that smells fresh. Who says that track isn't 2hrs old? I understand that a rabbit will circle back from where it was jumped and this tells the hunter roughly where to set up but what about this scenario :conf6: Thanks for any help guys!!!!

Assuming you are hunting by yourself, I would stay put until i know that he is hot on the track. Then move toward that spot and get myself in position for when it circles back around.

Slick, you're asking how to set up because your not having success? I think as long as you can see around for a shot wherever your dog opens up will be a good spot to stand. That rabbit scent is from a rabbit in the area, which will circle or hole up. He may not come through exactly where the old scent is but he should come close enough that you would see him hoppin' through.
