Suggestions for a Coyote Rifle
Going to get after some yotes after deer season.I would like some ideas as to what some of y'all use forhunting them. I'm thinking of a .204, .223, or a .243 in a bolt action.Suggestions appreciated.

I like the .243 because it can pull triple duty by going deer and hog hunting as well.
I know it is not popular, but I like to use the 30-06 loaded with 90gr bullets also......that rifle can pull off quite a few other jobs too.

for just coyote hunting any of the cals. you mentioned will work fine.I use a ruger m77 markII compact with a luepold 4X12X40 scope the whole rig weighs around seven pounds and is capable of 300yard shots in 223 caliber if you need a double duty caliber then the 243 is best for deer and coyotes without a lot of recoil. My rifle is only 35 3/8 inches long.If you are a big tall person it would feel like a kids rifle but if you walk up hill for a mile packing it,it feels like a dream rifle. And for the normal 200 yard or less shots in ky I think it's perfect for me!!

For caliber I think .204 is a little small for yotes, I know some will disagree but I stick to the mainstay of the .223. It will always be around. As far as gun, can't beat a savage for a bolt action. Acturate as anything out there, great trigger fully adjustable, and inexpensive as it gets. Model is up to you, I shoot a bull barrel cause mine doubles as a praire dog gun, but a buddy has a standard that shoots just as good. Havn't seen one that won't do under a 1/2" at 100 yrds

WARNING: if you EVER go yote shooting with an accurate AR rifle-you'll NEVER use anything else purposely on yotes. It's a BLAST to bust more than 1, or nail them running. The fast followup shots come in handy more times than you would think.
