Frozen Bait???

Anybody have any tricks to keeping bait from freezing? It has been
-7 to 15 degrees lately. Something to mix with bait like when using sardenes, peanut butter, etc...... I was questioning using a little bit of automtive antifreeze mixed in but would need like dexcool (pink antifreeze)in GM vehicles since it is not as likely to kill anything that eats it. Thanks in advance.

Frozen bait has never been a problem for me. If you are using pocket or dirthole sets, they should be reacting to the scent anyway, and they can still smell frozen bait.

That is good to know. I just assumed that if it was frozen it would not have as much sent to it.

Frozen sardines may have less smell to you when frozen, but to a fox or coon, its probably not a problem. Also, need to keep in mind that animals will often react to the sight of a freshly dug hole. People have caught coons in creek side pocket sets or dirthole sets even after forgetting to bait the traps.

I just started trapping this year but a friend of mine told me to mix in or sprinkle a little rock salt with your bait thats what I've been doing.
