And don't forget corn fields. Maybe not where you are from (?), but around here it is common for corn to be up through December and sometimes into January. Oh those squirrels love to feast on ears of corn.

west siberian laikas are squirrel dogs. little to no training needed. they start treeing by 3 months, and are also good for coons.

Here's a tip.

Next time you go squirrel hunting, take two pennies with you.

If you happen to see a squirrel at a distance or scare one up a tree, get somewhere close to where you saw it last. Sit where you can see good and sit there as quiet as possible for about 15 minutes.

Take out your two pennies. Hold one in your left hand with your thumb and fingers with the tails side up.

Take the other penny and scrape the edge of it across the tails side of the other penny. Scrape it across that monument picture. This will make a ripid clicking sound. Do this for several minutes while looking around in the tree tops.

This scraping sound mimics the sound of squirrels cutting( chewing on a nut). When they hear this, they think all is well and that others squirrels are busy eating. Unless they are watching you, they will come out of their hiding place.

Carry a pocket of rocks, about the size of a nickle.
When the squirrel gos around a tree on the other side.
Just be still, and throw a rock so it hits the ground on the side the squirrel is on.
And it will go around to the other side, where you are at.
And then you can get a shot at it.
