killing range of airgun
 

I just recently got into airgun hunting. I have a gamo bigcat that shoots 1000 fps with lead. What size groups should i be expecting from 20, 30, 40 yards and what are the max killing distance for this airgun. Can i expect to kill squirrels at longer distances.

I have a Big Cat. I've gotten decent cloverleaf groups all holes touching at 35 yds. I have consistently hit bullseyes at 50. I wouldn't shoot a squirrel past 35-40 yds. I've had my best results from Beeman Wadcutters. I've never shot a squirrel with it. No squirrels legal to hunt here. Did shoot a rock chuck at about 35 yds. Head shot, done.

Nice. For some reason i can't get groups out of the gun. I shoot at 20 yards from a bench rest and get shots all over the target. It has a 3-9 power scope on it.

I have a Gamo 220 Hunter 1000 fps with extremely light pellets but a real 850 fpswith standard weight. My best shot for distance is a pidgeon I hit at 51 yds. in the center of the chest. He took flight but folded in 10 feet. We shoot squirrels all the time with it and it will kill them with a head shot at 25-30 yds. Springer air guns are really hard on scopes and mounts but once you get them to where they won't move they can be pretty accurate. I settle for inch groups at 20 yds.. it could be better but the scope is junk.

Hey Hick, Have you tryed putting different pellets in the gun? It can make a big difference, Even the same models can shoot pellets differently. If you havent tryed it give it a go. If it does'nt help get in touch with gamo, they stand behind the product very well.

Try the predator pellets. I have had good luck with these.
