Coyote hunting in the woods?
 

How many of you here have coyote hunted in the woods? If so have you had any success? I have 70 acres of woods up in NY and was thinking about trying some yote hunting there. Is there any calls that will particularly work better in the woods? I have a field in the middle of the property... Its about waist high but all that should be down in the snow. Should I hunt here? Or I can hunt in the front of the property on the side of the private dirt road where there is always yote crap. Where should I hunt? Also how many stands do u make in 1 night and after how many minutes do you move? How far do you move? Has anyone ever used a red light? Do they work well? Please help me out here... Ive never really hunted coyotes but have lost many deer to them and do not want this to happen again on my new property.

Down in KY we cant hunt at night so I dont know about that.The main thing to consider would be the wind direction,a coyote is most likely to approach from down wind.Here I like to set up around the woods edges to try to get old wiley to step out to check out the sound,by using the wind to force him to the edge and give me a shot.I have always heard that a red lense is best to keep from spooking them,let us know if you score and GOOD HUNTING!!

i agree with #68. using the spotlight dont put the center of the light beam on them. use the outside of the light beam. just enough to light up there eyes. in my opinion its harder hunting them in the woods. i set up in the woods last weeknd and was using a turkey yelp. i had a nice one circle the bottoms below my setup where i couldt get a shot. sad thing about it he got within 40 yards of me and i couldt get a shot. he was down wind of me in seconds and gone even faster.
