I would use those Hornady 55 grains or the black hills ammo with the Barnes Varmint Gernade

Better switch to a 22lr or 22mag if you want a nice hide. I don't know if they make a fmj in that caliber, but that could work and it would just make a little hole in and out if no bone was hit.

Foxes aren't really big enough to justify using a .243 on. If you're looking to save the fur, I'll second looking toward a .22 Magnum or maybe a .22 Hornet.

I HAVE seen FMJ .22 Mag ammo, but I'm not a fan of FMJs on Coyotes with a .223, so I'll not recommend FMJs for foxes, either.

If you shoot a fox with your 243 you better be ready to spend a half hour picking up the peices of whatis left of it.

the 58grain hornady wont help you, they travel at close to 3800fps and we all know that high velocity and light bullets can cause a big blow up even on an animal as small as a fox,I've killed one coyote with these and it was a mess.A head shot would save a lot of fur but ther wont be much left from the neck up.Good luck P.S.if you reload you may be able to down load the 243 but be careful not to go to slow there is the possibility of getting a bullet stuck in your barrel and this could be a disaster if you didnt realize that it stuck and shot the gun again use a reloading manual and the smallest possible load reccomendations to be safe.

I shot a fox with a 7mm-08 while hog hunting last year. and it was salvagable......243 should be a happy median for deer and fox.....tho .22 mag would be better
