You might try 100 gr. Nosler Partitioned bullets. The gr. weight is much heavier than needed for fox sized game, but maybe the Partition would "punch" a hole rather than blast a hole. Just a guess.

Have you shot the .17 HMR? I bought one because it was on sale a couple of years ago. I have shot everything from ground squirrels to coyotes. The round is a tad smaller than a .22, but the accuracy and speed is far superior. I put a Bushnell scope and bipod on mine. My 9 year old daughter shoots it all the time and with deadly accuracy. Just a thought.
