Squirel Problem

Ok i have a squirel living in and around my house (in a community) It's stared me down a few times and hissed at me:). I was gonna try and put a bb gun to it but it wont come out anymore. How should i get it out? Will a bb gun take care of it? (its an old daisy pump action-getting a new one soon)

watch out for them squirrels they may charge,if he gets you down it could be bad.Just kidding.Shoot that sucker with whatever you have, bird seed or a small pile of corn will draw them in,and you may be able to kill enough for a meal.Fried squirrel hind quarters and gravy and bisquits would be a good reason to kill em!!!!darned it now I'm hungry!!

If this is a mature trophy size squirrel you may have to boil or pressure cook him in order to be able to chew him.good luck

I had a squirrel living in my garage once. I pumped that crossman about 12 times, shot that thing in the back of the neck, and bb bounced off and he ran away. Get some subsonic rounds for a 22, no louder than a pellet gun. This will take care of him.

RE: Squirel Problem

The BB gun should work great as long as you shoot straight. Or you can try a rat trap.

My friend had three flying squirrels in his A/C ducts, he waited for them to come to some bait outside the vent and killed them with a crobar.

RE: Squirel Problem

Yea theres a million things you can try, but I"m a fan of the old fashion way. shoot his crumb snatch"in little butt. If you try the rat trap, whitch does work well, tie it up to somthing. they can drag the trap off, and start to stink.

Head shot with BB gun should work. I took out a rabbit, with a BB gun, 3 pumps, shot it through the eye, into the brain, did the bunny death flop

RE: Squirel Problem

Some corn on the ground and a subsonic 22 or 22 short. Then skin him and have him for dinner.

BB gun will work just fine, I've killed plenty with a 10 pump with a shot to the head.

RE: Squirel Problem

Unless its a red ryder you should be fine. I use my daisy 1000 to kill squirrels, rabbits, doves, coons, woodchucks all the time. It's a .177break barrel pellet gun that shoots 1000 fps, never had to shoot something twice with it xcept a woodchuck that i hit in the leg on first shot.- I don't know what kind of air rifleyou have, if it can shoot pellets then do that instead of BBs. Pittbulls work too.

So far the corn has worked i saw him out there today but didnt take him because im about to get a new air rifle that ill use instead.

Squirel 1
Squirel 2
Squirel 3
Squirel 4

RE: Squirel Problem

Well, When you get all four of them get them in the crock pot, with onions, and corrots for a
''chicken of the tree dinner". Seriosly, try and get some of those coated pellets, it will up your FPS substantually. Keep feeding them corn untill you kill them.

RE: Squirel Problem

yes thats definately a pope and young class squirrel, you will need to boil him or slow cook him to be able to chew him up good, and dont that corn work good,I've sat in the deer stand over a corn pile and saw as many as 13 eating from the corn pile, sometimes they run each other off and fight and sometimes a chipmunk will dash out and get a peice of corn and run back to it's den,pop him in the head with that new pellet gun and you will change his nasty attitude before it's to late,he could become a squirrel bully and run off the other squirrels, they will also chew on plastic and electric wires around your house they have to gnaw to keep their teeth maintained.good luck and good eating.

RE: Squirel Problem

get some 22 shorts they are no louder than a bb gun just shoot him in the head and skin him and deep fry him and by the way lure him wit some corn

RE: Squirel Problem

No, a Red Ryder will not take out a squirrel. i've shot plenty of squirrels with mine and it makes em run away, but won't kill it. not sure about a crosman 760... probably would if you got pointed pellets for it. i have a crosman 760 with a 4x15 Tasco scope. but i haven't tried shooting squirrels yet

Squirrels are known to be dangerous maneaters be careful and kill those squirrels quick before they eat your nuts.

RE: Squirel Problem

At my place there are old squirrels and bold squirrels, but there are no old bold ones.

Switch your pumper to pointed head or dome head lead pellets, bbs are useless and just wear your barrel out faster. I take them out of a 70' hickory tree with lead pellets in my springer, they sure get cocky at that range, once...;)

RE: Squirel Problem

Yes you pellet gun should work fine. so long as you use a well placed shot. Pellets dont have the power .22's have, so you cant just shoot it, and expect it to die. Try for Head/Neck shots. Im sure you already knew this though.

RE: Squirel Problem

Yep i just got my new .22 cal pellet gun and it works beautifully. I already took out a few birds. All i need to do now is work a little w/the iron sights and ill be ready to go. Ill be sure to post more pics once i get him
thanks

Ya know what else you can do is dig a hole about two feet deep. Take ice cubes and put them out in a circle around the hole. When the squirl comes out to check it out, sneak up and kick him in the icehole

RE: Squirel Problem

you guys are crazy. but you know what ive heard. you can shoot a shot near them, they will run scared, and if your lucky they will run into the tree there in, and kill themselves on impact.

RE: Squirel Problem

You can snare them easily if you find where they are entering the house (usually in the soffit under the gutter). High # test flourocarbon fishing leader or even a light wire works well. If you have a fence, you can take a 2x4 and lean it up againest the fence like a ramp. Squirrels love running stuff like this. Just make about 20 of those snare loops.. he'll lasso himself and hang. If you make one on the house though.. just check it often, espeically if the neighbors have a full view of your house....

Your .22 pellet gun is a good choice. I use a regular .22 with .22 CB longs or shorts. Out of a rifle they are in my opinion even quieter than a pellet gun, and they hit very hard. Head shots are always best, but you can get away with body shots using a .22 cal rifle or pellet gun.

RE: Squirel Problem

if you can use pellets, do it. they work best. i killed a squirrel by shootin it in the hip wit my old daisy pump. and it shot 600 fps. one shot too.
