Shotgun for coyote
 

I was wondering if its feasible to use shotgun sabots on coyotes. I don't want them for fur, i just have a friend that would like some help getting rid of some yotes out on his farm. I don't own a rifle so this would be my only means of shooting them.

You can probably kill a coyote with any kind of weapon(though not ethical). If you can get them in range, I would say go for it!

yes a shotgun will kill them you need to look at the range if you have a 4 10 use slugs in it.

Shotguns do good 75yds. and closer, I load mine with 00 buck, depending onthe terrain your hunting they are sometimes better than a rifle!.

Well i have a Mossberg 500 12 gauge. Its sighted in now at 125 yards with SST's. Is that a little to far for coyotes with a shotgun?

They are referring to a range limit for using buckshot. Slugs should be good out to any range you can successfully take a deer. If your gun is zeroed at 125, and you can hit a deer in the vitals and kill it at that range you should be good for coyotes at that range.

I agree that the slug will work well if you don.t have a rifle and are okshooting with it, but I would have a 0 or 00 buck in behind the slug for the ones that get in your lap quickly and won't stop. Good luck!
