Ill have to check for sure tomorrow, but I think if the ammo can be used in a pistol you cant buy it until your 21 years of age. Ill check my regs and let you know.

I guess I was thinking about drinking, Federal; 922 X,5, definition of a juvenile, under the age of 18. Federal; 922X,1, It shall be unlawfull for a person to sell deliver or otherwise transfer to a person who the transforor knows or has reasonable cause to believe is a juvenile- a handgun or ammunition that is sutable for use only in a handgun. So unless your state has any guidelines to deal with I would say you can buy .22lr under the age of 18 the way the federal law reads.

i work at a sporting goods store and you have to be 18. when i was a kid i used to buy pellets for my air rifle and i had to have a handwritten note from a parent to get them at the local hardware store.

the retailer has to ask if they are gonna be used in a rifle or handgun and base thier decision to sell the ammo on the answer and hope that the person buying them is honest.
