I like my .243 for the long shots. The damage is minimal and I know they will go down at long range with the 100gr bullet. I also take my 12ga. loaded with 0 buck, it.s a nice sized shot for yodel dogs.

ANSWER - NONE OF THE ABOVE!
can you say over kill. If you plan on shooting less than 100 yards a 22LR will suffice and won't make a huge mess (if you have to hall them off - I mean actually pick them up). If you are thinking of buying another gun (especially for a multipurpose gun and ammo cost is a factor) I would suggest either a 223 or a 22-250. I would heavily suggest the 22-250 for all arround performance, range, flat shooting, knockdown power, etc...
I build rifles and at a price you would like (way cheaper than most and typically more accurate). You give me the specs and I can build what you would like, want, and would come to love as one of your hunting rifles.

I use a .270 w/ 90 gr HP and they work wonders for coyote. No exit hole, explodes in chest cavity.
30-30 Accelerators shoots pretty well at paper to my surprise. Nice group some flyers but it was a wicked windy day at the range so I am not yet sure if it was me or ammo. I have yet to try for Canines but hope to soon. They also sell them for RELOADING your .308.
