rabbit snaring
 
i am going to make a few traps and a few snares and put them in a field by my house. wat material should snare be made of. how far off ground

20 gauge wire and about the width of your hand (maybe a little less) off the ground.

20 gauge wire isn't going to flex under the stress of a passing rabbit.



I've snared rabbits with shoelaces and braided monofiliment. Anything will work, but expect the rabbit to be dead when you arrive. Keep the snares placed under brush if possible to prevent owls and hawks from eating your catch.

the two rabbits were caughtusing 20 gauge wire. (shot yote later in the morningwith .222)

Make sure it is legal in your state before you try it.

Also make sure no one around has dogs that could get caught in it!

Check the trapping regs. Many states don't allow rabbit snares.

will they say specifically no snaring if it is illegal. i checked dnr regs nothing about it just the trapping season
