Rabbit Fever (tularemia)

Anybody have any tips or precautions on how to avoid this.
Has any body herecontracted this disease?
I live in colorado, is it very common here?
I love rabbit hunting and the meat but this kinda makes me think twice about eating them.

RE: Rabbit Fever (tularemia)

Never had a problem and have been bunny hunting for 20 some years. Couldn't begin to tell you how many rabbits I've eaten/handled and I often feed the head, lungs, hearts to my dogs. Not intestines due to worms though.
