who hunts small game with this gun?
 

Hi,im relatively new here.i was wondering who hunts smallgame with a remington 597 in 22lr or the other calibers?

I got one in a 22 mag. Lam. stock w/heavy barrel and i love it! But if its really small game i gotta stick with my 10/22

i plan to get one soon for small game hunting and to honemy shooting on the cheap

i beg to differ bigbucks98, though the magazine to the 10/22 is far better, thats it. The remington has 2 slide rails and is built much more solid. And as far as accuracy, im yet to find a 10/22 that will outshoot my stock 597.

Lookin for one in 22 mag to replace my old marlin. Prolly one of the only people you'll talk to who don't like the 10/22

id say that your 597 might have better accuracy that my hunting 10/22 but not my bench 10/22. I will bet any and all of my guns that that gun will outshoot ur 597 and dont even say it wont. I cand hardly see my goup at 100 yards of a full 10 round clip with my index finger over it.

I have one in .22lr and it`s been a great . I had 2 of the hunting 10/22 and got ride of them .The 10/22 can be a nice gun if you dump a ton of money on them.
Ill say with my remington any day.

I use a Winchester .22 Magnum to shoot squirrels, redders, chipmunks and keep the woodchuck numbers down on the farm. It pretty much makes mince meat out of the redders and chipmunks.

well,im gonna say it,my 597 can out shoot any of ur 10/22's.there i said it.next time at the range,i'lkl take pics ans video's so i got proof.can go to range though(snow)

I got a 597 last year. I love it. The 10/22 can be so personalized though. However, the 597 is just absolutely indestructible.

What is a good scope to complement this gun, if anybody has one with theirs. I tried to use the scope from my air rifle, but the vibrations from that screwed up the scope (I will never spend money on a supposed vibration resistant scope again).

i have a barka rimfire 3-7x20mm and i like it,i wish the objective wa at least a 30mm though.found a scope at our range(gravel pit) and might put it on there.(3-9x56mm)
