RE: 243 - 270 too much ?
I like the less recoil guns that is alot more fun to shoot and easir to be more consistent with your shots... I know the the guns above don't recoil to much, But I prefer the less recoil and less noise when I varmit hunt.. Out of them 2, I would take the 243.. But my choice is the 22-250 for out past 225 yrds.. Very sweet cartridge and does nice on small to medium varmints I have to say..
The less recoil and noise would be the best choice of the 243.. Just my opinion is all I am giving...

I've killed many with both. Unless you want to sell the pelts both are great guns for yotes. Personally, I just switched from a 243 to a lever action 357 mag as my knock around gun. I've kept the gun in my farm truck for the past two weeks and have gotten four coyotes. It works well out to about 100 yds.

270 is overkill, don't get me wrong allot of guys started hunting yotes with there deer and elk rifles because thats all they had but a caliber that is capable of taking elk and even moose seems to be a little over kill for a 40 to 50 pound yote not to mention the cost of ammo even if you reload you are wasting allot of powder on such a small animal.now the 243 or 6MM on the other hand are considered to be the top of the varmint calibers either one loaded with 60 or 70 grain bullets will put a yotes lights outQUICK!!!!!! yes the pelt will have a nice hole in it but when you go up in caliber you are going to cause more damage.

Only one gun to shoot at 'yotes...the one you can hit the little buggers with! 270, 243...doesn't matter if you miss...just shoot what your best at shooting.

Here in IL we can't use a rifle to deer hunt with and you can't 'yote hunt with a slug gun. BUT if you are gun hunting deer you can shoot 'yotes with a slug gun.
What ever you can shoot well and have room to shot safely, blast 'em.
Good luck and be safe.
