Coyote hunting
This weekend im going coyote hunting for the first time. I don't have a rifle for this application. I was thinking about using my 7mm-08, does anyone know of any bullets that will cause minimal hide damage for this caliber? My only other option is my 22 LR, but the pasture i will be hunting is pretty big, where some shots could be taken at 200 yards easily. Thanks for the help!

RE: Coyote hunting
I would think BIG holes from the 7mm-08. Not much left to save. But it will leave them dead! I would not even consider your 22. Do you have a shotgun? That may be your best bet.

RE: Coyote hunting
I have a Remington 20 gauge, but i will most likely not be close enough to shoot em with that. We'll be using spotlights and hunting at night (it's legal here in GA). I didn't get big holes in the deer i shot this year with my Fail Safes, not even my 8 point which i shot through the shoulder at 15 yards. I just need something that doesn't expand as much. Thanks for the info though.

RE: Coyote hunting
I'd guess, even though your 7mm-08 is concidered too large for coyotes, that using the fail safe bullets will not do too much damage becasue they are a hard bullet, built for big game, meaning that they probably won't expand much on a coyote. After you shoot one, you will be able to verify that first hand. If the bullet doesn't hit shoulder bone, I bet the exit hole won't be too ugly. I've shot coyotes with my .300 Win., and the exit holes were smaller than what my 22-250 leaves alot of times.
