Check out the pawn shops in your area. you can't just look at the price tags you have to talk with the salesperson just because the price tag says $500 dosen't always mean that's what they will take for it. I got .222 rem 700 with 6-24X50 tasco scope and bipod (price tagged at $500)after looking at it andhaggling with salesperson about some of the scratches we came up with a pricethat worked for us both $290 after tax.

Gun shows are another good place to find gooddeals toyou have tohaggle with them.

Last thing don't just look at the pretty ones rough stocks can be covered with a wrinkle coat paint it gives it a look like a synthetic
I picked uparuger 77 .22-250with 3-9X40 tasco for $100 it had great blueing and riflingbut a busted stock and floor plate got another stock for $100. haven't got new floor plate yet$200 in it and it shoots great. (new floor plate about $25)

i want dad to take me to a gun shop but cause the price of gas anymore, just goin there and back, savin money goin back, and goin back would cost more than the gun its self, but my grandpa found my high standard .410 at a pawn shop fo like $60

now theres a useless gauge, you had a better idea with the 22mag or the 17. if you do get the 410 , you better plan on getting them point blank range because your going to need every pellet on target. ( or slug but since your from ohio dont get caught useing slugs or the game warden will think your deer hunting. )

Ahhhhh.............The same question that has been asked on here 400 times.

Both have their pros and cons. Some people like the .17 because it is faster and shoots flatter. Some like the .22 cause it is a bigger bullet and has more knock down power.If your shooting rabbits, squirrels, birds, ect.; then these calibersare right for you.

But, if you want to shoot bigger predators (ex. coyotes) then get a center fire rifle. .22 hornet is as small as I would go.

I have killed a coyote with a .17 before so I am not saying it won't get the job done.I am just saying that a center fire would be much more effective.

would a .243 be too much for yotes/foxes? cause its one of the most popular calibers by far so therefore ammo is cheaper, along with the .223, but i was wondering about the .243, cause it holds more energy than the 22-250 further.

No a .243 should be good for the yotes; foxes, it might be a bit big for, try bullets with less expansion for the foxes, and the greatest expanders for the yotes, knockdown power is key on them. Also, for energy retention a key factoris bullet weight; a .243 will retain less than .22-250 if you use bullets that are lighter or of equal weight. Heavy bullets are the key.

i dont know where your gettin your info at, but .17 hmr has always worked for me, as long as it was less than 75 yards, as long as your confident in your shot placement and know you will not misplace your shot, whenever i hunt i never make the shot unless i know i will make the kill shot, so if you feel comfortable with your shot placement and your gun i belive you can use either, well i know that you can use either.

No offense but your stupid if you don't go for a .243 at the $200 range even if its a single shot. Heck, I've got 15 coyotes with my NEF. Remember its the first shot that usually gets em.
