Extraordinarily weak(I'm not trying to be mean): My bow gets 52 fpe(240 fps, 367-grain arrow), and most adults' compounds get 70-80 fpe.

Double the velocity, quadruplethe energy.
Double projectile weight while velocity is constant, double the energy.

4-5 FPE are all that are needed to kill rabbit, but that's on impact, what I calculated is when your arrow leaves your bow.

Firearms have far more energy, .222 rem about 1000-1100 FPEup to .50 BMG with 16000 FPE. Standing within 2 metres of the impact areof the .50 I just mentioned is certain death.

And I still wouldn't want to get hit with my arrows.

I do just fine with my pellet gun. I got a gamo shadow sport which gives ya 1200 feet per second (fps). ive gotten a rabbit at 40 plus yards. i can shoot through an archery cube and penetrate through wood also. i think its easier to shoot with pellets just in case you miss with an arrow n loose it.

Brod man,
depending on the pellet gun it can be effective for killing rabbits. I have killed amny in my day with mine. A .22 would be more effective for killing them, but depending on where you are hunting at, might not be a better choice.

Good luck with the cotton tails.

For reference: 1 lb.= 6300 grains.

Correction: there are 7000 grains in a pound.

would my bow still be affective if a burgular came in my house, if my arrows had broadheads on it? 12.5 fpe should be enogh to seroiusly wound someboday or even cause death if they can't stop the bleeding or get the arrow out. and by then i would set aniother arrow on the string and pound aniother arrow into the bad dude, and another until he is down. im very prtective of my family and we do not own any other weapon to protect our family, and when my dad is gone on duty im the only man in the house.
