shooting your money

Down here in SC near the Georgia line, we have armadillos everywhere! I've already killed about 13 of them in the past 2 months (considered varmints). I don't really have anything against them, but my uncle, grandpa, and aunt say that it tears up the plots. Probably true. But did you know that you can sell them for 100 dollars each? Does anybody have a place that will do that around their area? Is this even legal?

I think someone is pulling your chain there or you are pulling ours..
A bears gall bladder is worth about 500$ if not more now on the black market. I would think at 100$ a pop for an armidillo part on the black market you wouldn't have any armidillos left..They would be on the endangered species list for sure..

Nah, man. I'm not the kindof guy who will lie for no reason. My little cousin told me about it about a year ago... but i didnt believe him. (hes 8). but then my grandpa told me he talked to the guy who bought them! He's an old man; about 74. He lives in Varnville SC, just a mile down the road from my property. He breeds them, or something like that.

Im sure a live one would fetch even more money. But now ya gotta think about if it is legal. Ya never know if an animal has some blood borne sickness that can wipe out something else. I know stuffed armadillos make a good conversation piece at bars and small resteraunts.(oppossum on the half shell)

Why would he want to breed armidillos?

Who knows. Maybe the guy's a freak. Maybe it's not true. I was just posting this to see if anyone on here has heard of it, because I don't think it's true. It's illegal to sell live game here (right?), and if this poor old man buys them, the DNR around here would crack down on him real quick.

Armadillos are the onlywild creatures that can carry leprosy.

http://www.flex.net/~lonestar/armadillo.htm

"The armadillo is the only animal, aside from humans, known to carry leprosy. For this reason it is illegal to sell a live armadillo in the State of Texas. Leprosy aside, the State of Texas has adopted the armadillo as its official state mammal."

I have lived in Grays all my life, and I have never heard of any dillos goin for 100 bucks, cant even give them away, they are pests... The only explanation I can see, would be if some moron farmer was willing to pay someone to shoot them for 100 bucks a head...but thats crazy.
