best fox rifle?
I'm interested in getting started in fox hunting, what sort of caliber rifle would you most recommend?

RE: best fox rifle?
.17 HMR with 20 grain hollow points. It won't blow the Hell outta them and are very accurate at long ranges.

unless your trying to hit them at over 175 yards for some reason, go lower than 223, that is if your only hunting foxes

Actually, I am not sure what ranges you are looking at. I have a clue you can shoot so we have that figured out. I would use the 223 if you need to get past 200; you can get a wide variety of commercial bullet weights to included full case if you need that. It would have a modest report for hunting in settled areas. The 22 Hornet would be quieter yet, although the commercial bullet selection is much more modest. I honestly would not use it past 150 yards unless it was a real still day. Anyway, have fun, they are crafty little boogers and the pelts are worth some $. Heh, would like to hear if you bag one.

.223 is best all around cartrige fox, yotes ground hogs

RE: best fox rifle?
22 hornet or K hornet because it does minimal pelt damage to fox, but loaded with 40 grn vmax it is a good yote stopper within 200yrds...
