You should consider an ar10, it's a 308 and knocks 'em dead every time.

I will proubably get criticized for this because there is a few people on here that is really immature and cant leave things be, but i would go with a Savage. I have a couple and i like them more than anything else ive ever had. They are cheap and very good quality for the price.

I can afford most any gun I want and over the year's I've tried most Browning Weatherby etc but every rifle that I currently own except my Marlin .444 is a savage. Get a savage and you won't have to waste time or money bedding it and so on.

Remington 700 SPS Varmint. Great bolt action .223. But if you're looking for a semi-automatic you can't go wrong with an AR-10 or AR-15.

Better yet if you don't want the pelt just use your deer rifle same load and everything, great target practice.

If your on a budget the Howa or Savage package deals are your best buy. Before you go listening to the rant by some let's get a few facts down. First a mini 14 while fun to shoot is by no means an accurate gun, it is not designed to be, not without dumping about a $1000 to clean it up. Second, anyone who needs a break on a 223 is either handicapped or can't shoot in the first place. There is not a thing wrong with saving some money on the gun to buy a better scope.
