Why .22k hornet when you could go to the .222 or .223 rem and have a little more flexability
with reduced loads from2200 fps up to maxium ofaround 3000-3600 fps with 45gr-60gr bullets
.22k hornet maxedout2900 fps with 45gr. the 50gr and 55gr bullets max out around
2500-2700 fps.
If you match the velocities report (sound) is same. (hornet or .222/.223)
IMO cheaper to go .222 or .223 rem

know your abilities before you pull the trigger.
just my opinion thx and good hunting

For coyotes, I sure like Hornady V-Max's. Haven't shot a .22 Hornet, but I hunt with somebody that does, and they use Hornady factory ammo and they have never had a complaint.

Hey North Texas:
Could you tell me more about what your friend is shooting in his .22 Hornet? Need some particulars. Also would like to know how efficient his load is working. What are the reactions from the coyotes he is getting?
Thanks!!!!

Because it costs me 12 to 15 cents to load the .22 K-Hornet. I already have a couple .223s and a .22/.308. The latter will beat a .220 Swift by a little bit with nearly anybullet.

Hey alsagr:
Tried to "private message" you but you have it blocked.

I belong to a large gun club here. I spoke with a guy that is known for reloading. He has tinkered with the hornet in the past. He has 500 rounds of new brass and 45 grain hollow points. He has agreed to load for me. He wasn't sure but he thought 11 grains of 2400 would not fit. He also asked me to ask you what primer you suggest.

Any additonal "technical" information you have would be greatly appreciated. Again, that you so much for your help. Hope you see this posting!!!!!

Try the Winchester 46 grain hollow points at 150 yards or less. I checked with a couple locals who have been going after some well fed yotes that have been munching on late winter deer kill here.
