what trap to use
 

i am wondering what knid of traps to use on what kind of animals. i also would like to here of any inventive traps or set ups you have come up with. what are the best kind of streters to use knives and so forth. i realy am enjoying learning how to trap and all the different waysto do so. i just have a long way to come and i am checking my traps every morning and i have been unlucky so far. so any info would be nice. pics. would be great and i would love to see what you have traped shoot or killed with a knife or bow.

You can use a snare on just about anything trappable. Use a deadfall on small stuff or a snare does good too.

A deadfall trap is when you take a heavy object such as a rock or log and lean it upright with a stick undernieth supporting the weight. On the stick, tie some bait. When the animal comes to eat the bait, they jiggle the stick and the heavy object comes down and either knocks them out or just completely crushes them. Its kinda hard to explain but you should be able to do a google search and get directions on how to set them up.

Deadfalls can be made two ways one is eaisier to set up you can google them and find the way to set up both. The best part is they dont cost anything to make. just bait.

before using any set's you here about make sure they are legal in your area. generally you wouls use a #1 or #1.5 coil spring or long spring trap for foxes raccoons fisher mink muskrat. #2 cs or ls for foxes coyotes badger bobcat otter.
and for beaver i would use a #3 or #4. but the easiest is a 330 conibear or similar brand.

check your local game laws, i knowdeadfalls are illlegal in Ohio. most states also require a trapper saftey course wich would tell you exactly what size trap to use.
