Well, if you can find factory ammo with a 70 grain Sierra Blitzking, then use it. Reload with it if you can. They blow up so easy that it normally won't leave ahole (entry or exit) unless you hit bone.

i dont care what kind of gun u have. If that bullet hits bone its gona leave a nice hole. use soft points not balistics or hollow. Full metal jacket also only if u hunt in woods because them suckers richocet. Thats why people can use a .223 for deer as long as they hit the front shoulders

I have no clue what is even offered for factory varmint loads out of a 243.
If you get into handloading Sierra 60gr HPs at 3600fps do a great job on dogs, I've shot a good 12-15 with this load in the last month an half and have only had one exit and it was only nickel sized.
Also 75gr Hornady HPs work very well. I've never had luck with the V-Maxs, BTs, or BlitzKings, they all seem to blow some serious holes through dogs.
Just don't hit the shoulder blades and you will be fine!

I am wondering why none of you have mentioned the 55gr bullet for the .243??? I personally have no experience w/it but I do know that an 85gr ballistic is NOT what you want for hide preservation.

Most 243s will not stabalize the 55gr bullet. I haven't tried it, but I have a buddy that tried them in a Rem 700 and a Savage and neither would shoot better than 2-3" groups at 100 yards with that bullet.
My Tikka and Remington 243 will both group the 60s great. I don't want to buy a box to try of the 55s if my guns aren't going to shoot them well.
