Just wondering what is the best way to call in coyotes this time of year... would it be better to howl one in or use a distress call.? I hunt in central oklahoma

in my opinion, distress calls always work.

This time of year yotes arent very vocal so if you do howl limit how much you do so. A good distress call always works when they here it. well most of the time!!:D;)

If you'll be calling an area that has had little to no calling done all winter, then by all means use a distress call, rabbit will work great. If the area gets calledregularly, then you can bet that every other Dick and Harry used rabbit distress, so howling will be more effective, or at least use something different, maybe woodpecker distress. You can use some lone howls or female invitation for starters. Non threatening howls! Besides, they are coming into the breeding season, and this is the time that howling really starts to be more effective.

Again Jake, how many coyotes have you called and killed? Not being a prick just wondering. Howling works good/great in winter, why do you think it doesnt?
