Remington model 597
I'm looking at investing in a new .22 for gopher shooting, how does this look?

RE: Remington model 597
I got one a couple of days after Christmas as a "late Christmas present". It's a fun little gun. So far, I've probably ran about 300 rounds through it (cleaned it after each outing) and it's misfed two bullets. But, other than that, I have no complaints with it.
I bought it mainly to shoot with my 11 year old. I've also taken it squirrel hunting, and plans for rabbit too.
I think I paid somewhere in the lines of $168 for it at Dicks Sporting Goods. Came with a 3x9 scope.
You'll enjoy it.

So is this gun built to last, because my dads friend had an auto-loader and it would jam and it eventuallyended upbroken.
And out of these scopes what one would you get?

(their all within $10 of $50)

Mine came with it. Normally they are sold as combo's. The price mentioned above included my scope. It's a Remington 3x9.
Works decent enough.
As far as mine jamming was concerned, it was with the Remington Thunderbolts both times. It never misfed the CCI Velocitors that I ran thru it.

I'm no expert on semi-automatics. This is the only semi that I have ever owned. As far as I'm concerned, it could have just been the ammo. I may be going out again this weekend to a friend's house for some plinking. I will let you know if it jams some more though.

almost every semi auto 22 i have seen has some ammo it doesnt like i have a savage model 64 it will shoot any thing copper plated i would hate to think of how many rounds i have pounded thru that $90 dollar gun it has never jammed with copper plated rounds even like the cheap federal stuff but i will jam all the time with just lead bullets
