Default Remington model 597

I'm looking at investing in a new .22 for gopher shooting, how does this look?

I got one a couple of days after Christmas as a "late Christmas present". It's a fun little gun. So far, I've probably ran about 300 rounds through it (cleaned it after each outing) and it's misfed two bullets. But, other than that, I have no complaints with it.

I bought it mainly to shoot with my 11 year old. I've also taken it squirrel hunting, and plans for rabbit too.

I think I paid somewhere in the lines of $168 for it at Dicks Sporting Goods. Came with a 3x9 scope.

You'll enjoy it.

So is this gun built to last, because my dads friend had an auto-loader and it would jam and it eventuallyended upbroken.
And out of these scopes what one would you get?

Mine came with it. Normally they are sold as combo's. The price mentioned above included my scope. It's a Remington 3x9.

Works decent enough.

As far as mine jamming was concerned, it was with the Remington Thunderbolts both times. It never misfed the CCI Velocitors that I ran thru it.

I'm no expert on semi-automatics. This is the only semi that I have ever owned. As far as I'm concerned, it could have just been the ammo. I may be going out again this weekend to a friend's house for some plinking. I will let you know if it jams some more though.

You know, I never looked at it from that aspect. That's a pretty good point.
