I have one in .22wmr it shoots very good. No problems.

please don't buy this guy. i'm begging/warning you. don't get me wrong i am a remington fan, but the 597 is junk. i can tell you this from experience. i have a 597 for one reason only-it was given to me. spend a couple extra bucks and buy a 10/22 if you are going to get a 22lr. i would personally buy a 17 for gopher shooting but thats me. plus with the 10/22 you have the option of upgrading it where you do not with the 597. for the ruger, you could get a bull barrel, laminated stock, or even a bigger clip. its much more easier to do with the 10/22 than the 597. good luck with whatever you go with and let us know.

Lol, I went to my gun store today and the guy there told me exactly what you just said, so I'm gettin the ruger for sure. You have any experience withthose rugers, what rounds do you fire through it?

i would try the federal 550 round value pack if you can find it. it is good ammo for the money. if you can afford it, shoot any ofthe CCI ammo.
