Stuff folks used to do that is rare now.
My grandad liked to eat possum. He used a "catcher stick" as he called it.
He would take a 6ft long forked stick. He tied a simple noose on both ends of ashort rope and attached it to the forked end. When he came across a possum that didnt seem too aggresive he slipped the noose over its head and pinned to the ground with the fork. he then grabbed the tail and pulled. Thenwrapped the possum up in burlap tightly. He then caged it and fed it corn and fresh water a week before killing and then eating. Other than that I would say "Barking" Barking for those who don't know is when you knock a tree-rat out by shooting the tree at it's head...easier with a larger caliber. The "explosion" will "bark" em. |

I've heard of "barking" but never tried it personally . Eating possum isn't high on my list , and I'd rather just shoot or deadfall it than try to lasso one if I were going to .
