Have not hunted with one but have shot one, they are nice little guns and with a good head shot will bring down a coyote, another nice little gun is the Ruger 77/.22 I have shot that too! But it will put a bigdent in you wallet, but worth it.

Nice gun indeed.

Where can I find a bull barrel for the 10/22?
You can find bull barrels of several types here:
Cheaper Than Dirt

I've been eyeing a compensated fiber wound ultralight bull for some time now . A .22 doesn't really benefit from the weight of a solid bull since the recoil is low , but the additional stiffness and compensator should improve my groups . They also have a good selection of stocks and trick parts for them . Occasionally they even carry a kit that turns it into a copy of the MG-42 machine gun , squirrel hunting with that rig would really turn my crank . Can you imagine the looks you'd get toting that nasty looking rig into the woods ? LOL :D

Hey for any 10/22 owners, what would you say is the best barrel length to get, and what is the range of your ruger?

Here is one I just put together to do exactly what you described. I am going to try the 2 high velocity loads from CCI. Tom.
