got a cottontail with my pistol

about a 15-20 yard shot, i'm not that great at guessing distances. i took him in VERY low light and it was a single handed shot because I didn't want to have to try to turn and risk running him off. i'm rather proud of this one. this is my first kill with a pistol. it feels pretty good :)

That's my Browning Buckmark .22lr in the picture with him.

Hey great going! Fried rabbit yum!

Don't know about rabbits your way, but here they don't spook real easy at 15-20 here. They tend to stay still thinking you don't see them. Should open up some more 2 handed shots.

These run pretty readily for some reason. In hindsight I'm sure if I were smooth enough I could've done the 1/4 turn and got a steady shot but it all worked out. I was in NO cover so I knew he could see me perfectly since I could see about the front half of him so I just took it like I was.

So I'm either lucky or the 150 or so shots at the range yesterday really helped hehe.

BTW that's how I figured it to be 15-20 yards. I did all of my shooting at a 15 yard target yesterday and it was close if not slightly farther than that target.

nice going, where are you from, how much does that gun run for? I killed a cottontail the other day with my bow at about 15 yards. It was a fun experience!

I live in northeast MS, about 10 miles north of Tupelo if it's even that far. I killed it kind of in my back yard. I say "kind of" because it's just a bunch of brushy land we own between where we stop mowing and where the trees begin.

If I remember correctly I paid $275 for that gun brand new at a private store. Like an idiot I didn't shop around so I don't know how that compares. I fell in love with it on sight, asked to look at it, and then went home with it.

Don't sweat getting the absolutely lowest cost on a firearm purchase. I have bought some pieces from "premium" dealerships just because I like their business and staff. Also, you can go to a football field and see how many of your paces make 100 yards. Walk it at least three times to get your pace. That way you will be able to confirm distance after a shoot. The math is not that hard.

I first measured my pace in the Marines in 1974. It is the same today.
