Smart Squirrlies or dumb hunters?

Ok, is it just me or are those rodents among the trees harder to hunt late in the year?I counted 18 squirrels from my deer stand a couple of weeks ago. So last week I hunted for 3 hours and took one shot, killing one, and only saw about 4. I know all the leaves are off the trees but does being up in a stand make a difference. When I squirrel hunted from the ground, I bet I sat for 45mins to an hour and had no luck (full camo). Where'd they go, I know they're there, there was a full moon too, does that matter. Oh and I guess I should of hunted in the morning, I only hunted the late afternoon.

RE: Smart Squirrlies or dumb hunters?

squirrells do get harder to hunt as the season goes on. My friends and I have found the best thing to do this time of year is sit on the edge of some woods, quietly for a good while, and when you see them come out, you have to charge them and try to get them stuck up in a tree. It makes for good entertainment.
