.17 HMR for coyotes
Will a 17hmr work that well for coyotes cause my dad's freind bought a new call and i'm gonna buy a 17hmr if they work well for coyote's about 100yds. if not how far?

they are a real good choice for yotes and little pelt damage. i would say go for it.

And they only drop aboutthree inches at 150yrdsNot bad for a rimfire.The only draw back is if you got a light cross wind 5mph.or more,Your bullet will be pushed aboutthree tofour inches by the wind to the side at 150yrds. Thats why many like the 22-250 for the heavier bullet all so. But the vitals of a dog isbit larger not much though than three to four inches though.I would keep them to 100yrds or less though with a 17hmr though.

i wouldnt reccomend it. its a small bullet, not a far range firearm for any means. you can get a .223 cheaper. I have a Savage 10FP .223 Tactical and it shoots 1/4" groups at 200 yards. a .17 gets blown around by the wind also
I would reconsider for a higher power firearm! |
