what load for shotgun
 

I have a remington 870 express super magnum. I want to start hunting yotes real hard. The law says the largest shot i can use at night is #4. My real question is should i buy an extra full turkey choke, or a full choke.

Number 4 shot or number 4 buckshot? Big difference and #4 buckshot does a beatiful job. If it is #4 BUCKSHOT do NOT use the extra full chokes. My gun patterns better with mod choke then it does full choke with 4Buck.

If it is number for shot I'd look into spending the extra dough for turkey chokes and turkey loads. And what about rifles? You got any of 'em? I'd personally have more confidence in a 22lr to the head at 50 yards then I would #4 birdshot.

Can you shoot 3.5" shells? If so, there are some called "Dead Coyote" and they are cool. You can get them from Cabelas I know for sure, but many other places have it.

I would go with #4 buckshot, with a mod choke.

it's illegal to use any larger that #4 bird shot at night. I hunt in relativley thick cover, so 25-30 yards max. During the day i have a semi auto 243, if i hunt a huge field i use a 270

If 30 yards is max I really would consider a .22lr instead. BUUUUTT I've never tried #4 birdshot, at that range it may be quite effective. At that range you also don't need anything more than a normal full choke. I would look into some of the 'hevi-shot' "X-tended range" or the other heavier-than-lead alloy turkey and/or waterfowl loads.

If you're not going to see 'em before 30 yards you might wanna bring a second set of underwear. If had my first 'scare' last year. That sucker came in fast and was nearly on top of me before he saw me!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course, as luck would have it I was just goofyin' around and didn't have a gun on me. (I was bored, had a mouth call in the truck with me...and figured why not?)
