Too much gun for Yotes?

Do y'all think the 25-06 is too much gun for Yotes?
I want good knockdown at distance with minimal hide damage.
I'd be shooting the 75gr Sierra Varminter HP w/58.2 gr of 483/56.

Most predator callers don't kill enough coyotes to justify worrying about fur friendliness.... if you have to sew10-15 pelts then so be it. I'd rather have gaping holes in dead coyotes than faintbloodtrails anyday.

Kill em' first, then skin em'. 75 grainers will be fine, especially in hollow points. Stay away from ballistic tips for fur and consistancy on impact damage.

You'd be better off using a more solidly constructed bullet with a thicker jacket. Nearly anything you shoot out of a 25-06 will exit at most ranges, and the varmint-style bullets will often do a lot more damage to the hide when they exit than bullets intended for deer and other game.

That is correct.

Well at $80.00 a hide in Canada (fur trader), we don't want to send him scraps.

Good advice all!! Thanks.

At $80 per hide, you could pay for a nice rifle setup real quick.

If coyotes were $80/hide here, I know what I'd be doing over my Christmas holidays.:D

RE: Too much gun for Yotes?

Have you looked for FMJs? If youre area is open enough to use them (they DO richotect...yeah I definately don't know how to spell that) and if they're legal you might try that option. I doubt they make 'em but a roundnose FMJ would be very nice.

Or another option is restricting your shots to those you know you can make a head shot on...is that a viable option?
